What are the needs of our SDA group and our schools?
  • Classroom management
  • Handling difficult behaviors
  • Anita Archer Explicit Instruction Model (5-8 SDA members will be trained by Anita this summer TOT)

  • Working with students of poverty (TOT in Orlando this summer Ruby Payne),

    • Side by side coaching- teachers responsibility, coaches responsibility,

  • Generate scenarios, follow-up
  • Slide-share follow-up
  • Highly Engaged School Marzano (book did not blow us away, but when presented components at academy made lots of connections)
  • Solution Tree Nicole Vagle- Lighthouse Learning Community author of Motivating Learners
  • John Hollingsworth- EDI Learning Objectives
  • NOC operates by sending folks for TOT and then train rest of NOC members
  • Marzano instructional rounds
  • Feldman Learning Walks
  • Development of tool kit of ways to encourage implementation and refinement of implementation
  • Jim Knight- Instructional coaching (ESU 13 has been using him for the past 3 years)
  • ESU TOT Trainers (ex. Anita Archer Explicit Instruction)
  • Furthering implementation-share ideas on how SDA members are making this happen
    • Possible EdCamp topics on instructional implementation; share best practice ideas
  • Could we arrange to see small sessions with the experts in September to help us decide who we bring in April?
  • Know there are 2 people that we want book them both; then September have mini sessions with experts to decide which way to go.

  • Try and research methods for helping teachers implement - Jim Knight
  • Come up with title and then description of what we want.
  • IDEA FOR THEME: From here to there: getting the techniques into the classroom.
  • Professional Development effectiveness - how do we evaluate ours?
  • We know the strategies and can share them with teachers
    • How do we help get them implemented in the classroom environment?
      • How can we evaluate our own practices?
